Iman Gunawan, known as Nawang, is the artist behind Nawang Art Gallery. In a world that often asks us to understand, judge and name things immediately, sketching offers another possibility: allowing an experience to remain present without bringing every question to a close.
On the sketch surface, freedom is more than the ability to choose. It is a willingness to attend to something that has not yet fully taken shape. Line, form and composition become part of a continuing search between what is felt, what is considered, and what is finally allowed to remain.
